Strive Notes

Here are my favourite postings for this week. Once again, these are in no particular order…

1. Technorati Indexing MySpace Blogs, Aaron Brazell is worried the blogosphere is getting too crowded and that quality is suffering. I think maybe he worries too much.

2. How can you not Google yourself?  Here, Josh Hallett talks about keeping an eye on how you, or your client, is represented by the search engine index.  It’s not just about ego (I get 149 hits, btw ). I was wondering about how all these teen bloggers and commenters will be represented on Google later in life, like at job search time? 

3. Rohit Bhargava, points out a cool site.  Patient Opinion lets people write a review on the health care services they received from their NHS providers. I think this will prove a great tool in driving up standards.  No wonder The Guardian is full of NHS sitsvacs for senior PRs each Monday.

4. Media Orchard features a story about the new branding exercise for Montreal.  “The more you kiss, the Frencher it gets” is the central campaign message. Well Montreal is just down the road from Ottawa so I’ve had the chance to visit quite a few times.  And it is an excellent getaway destination, whatever the season.  Don’t let the language thing put you off…pretty much everyone speaks English.  Congrats to Tourism Montreal for its innovative campaign!

5. I wanted to point out The New PR Wiki, to those who may not know about it. Think wikipedia for all things PR.  It’s a great resource and we all should have it bookmarked.  It’s the brainchild of Constantin Basturea but everyone is invited to contribute so the community keeps it fresh and relevant.  Have a look and let us know your opinions.
