Blogging about “media moves”

I really enjoy reading a lot of the PR content in the blogosphere.  There’s lots of good discussion about communication, media and public relations issues and trends. Also, there is a lot of information about blogging technology and practices, which is v educational.

One thing I don’t see much of is the exchange of the good hard info that we need to do our jobs.  I know we are all friends in cyberspace. And, we are all competitors in the marketplace.  But surely we could share a bit more?

In the spirit of “share and share alike Sherrilynne” (hat tip to Bernie in Ottawa) today is my first “Media Moves” post. I intend to do these as and when the news comes up. It would be great if everyone chimed in with the moves they hear of.

PC Magazine is changing its focus away from solely covering computing to include other technologies such as mobile phones, MP3s, cameras etc.  Importantly, product reviews will be shortened.  It’s hard luck for some clients who have benefited from these studies in the past. But, VNU says that the more in-depth stuff will still be featured on the website. Paul Rowlingson is the guy to contact about product reviews.

Erica Hill leaves her post as technology reporter for the CNN Headline News.  No replacement has been named.

For those of you who love Dr. Dobb’s Journal for all its deeply geeky coverage; CMP has just launched Dr. Dobb’s Portal containing all things of interest to software architects, developers and managers. Contact Editorial Director Jonathan Erickson with story pitches.
