May 5th: This week’s top 5

Here’s what I’ve been reading this week, in no particular order:

1. Shel Holtz gives his take on the trust study I blogged about earlier this week.  He tells us who he trusts the most.

2. Scott at Media Orchard explains why they don’t publish a client list. I agree with everything he says here.  But you can’t knock the biggies for trying.  That’s what commerce is all about.

3. Karen Sams gives a “how to” primer on SEO for news releases.  The advice is sound. But SEO takes some of the art out of writing compelling copy and clever headlines.

4. At Micro Persuasion, Steve Rubel points out an interesting new tool, Rentathing, a portable reputation management system. I’m keeping a watch on this one to see what take up is like.

5. Several weeks ago, Strivers had a good debate going about billing for business pitches in Are we giving too much away?  This week Tim Dyson examines the intellectual property of PR and how to put a price on it.  Clients and prospects should read this too.

Honourable mention:  Andrea posts a pretty funny pic of herself on New Millennium PR.  In one snap it shows how personal and fun blogging is. The comments show the real affection Andrea’s readers have for her.

What have you been reading?

  1. Thanks for the inclusion on this impressive list. I’m fortunate that I’ve met some really wonderful people through blogging that have become part of my professional network, people that I otherwise might never have come across. Isn’t that an example of the best of social media?
