buffet-leads creating new business? vox pop

OK folks in the PR world….I’m doing a little market research.  I’ve become aware of an online service called buffet-leads who provides first stage qualified business leads that are obtained via telephone research.

The idea is that they sell the lead a limited number of times (say three to eight times) for a fee that ranges from £20 to £100+.  I thought I’d try it out and have purchased a couple of leads over the past few weeks.  But it seems to me that when I contact the prospect they often only have the vaguest notion of procuring PR services.  Has anyone out there in the blogosphere has had success using this service?  Does anyone have an opinion on bi, one way or the other?

  1. This blog was brought to my attention. Have a look at http://www.buffet-leads.com/testimonial.htm and judge for yourselves. Call me if you would like to know more. Simon Fraser, General Manager, Buffet Leads.

  2. Thanks for visiting Simon. As you can see I originally posted this 4 months ago. You are the only one who found it interesting enough to comment. Not much of a Vox Pop eh?

  3. Ah, the long tail in action. But quite a sniffy reply from Simon I thought?

  4. i’ve been using buffet leads for about 6 months for pr and creative leads

some leads are hotter than others but generally they are fairly priced

i’m probably spending about £200 a month on average for about 6 leads - 1 in 3 probably leads to a meeting and then the rest is up to me.

3 client wins since we started and a few more looking good

as part of the new business mix these services are pretty good

  5. Thanks for dropping by James. Say hello to Simon for us.

  6. Hi Sherrilynne
I appreciate this blog is old now but I have just discovered buffet leads and as part of my research came across it. I have bought two leads so far (for exhibition work), one of which has failed to respond at all, despite 4 emails, snail mail and 4 phone calls, and the other is not interested for a year. Given time has moved on since last September, have you experienced a better qualification rate than this? NB Am I to take from your last entry that James and Simon are in some way linked?
