Top 5 follow-up

I’ve had a few emails about the Top 5 I posted a couple of days ago.  Specifically, they were about item  3…The Washington Post’s profile on Strumpette.  It’s interesting that folks contacted me via email on this, instead of just commenting on the post.  But I respect that not everyone wants to go on the record about this subject.

It’s clear there are two distinct camps…one pro and the other against Amanda Chapel.  I don’t think I fit into either one but my post was kind of ambiguous. Please let me clarify.

I agree with those that say making personal attacks on people from behind a screen is cowardly. I thought my mention of the initial Rubel attack underlined Amanda’s self serving proclivity. My post was dismissive of the profanity and nudity because it seems to me that with this Amanda is taking the mickey.  Maybe it cuts too close to the knuckle, but surely no one could possibly be so demeaning without their tongue in their cheek?

Still, I maintain that Strumpette is well written and an entertaining read. The reason I included this mention at all is that I genuinely admired Mary Ellen’s confidence in making the statements she did her post.  She’s a newcomer and I’m curious to see how taking this stand will work out for her.

  1. Hi, Sherrilynne:

I had a very gracious comment from the Strumpette herself/himself/themselves, and a handful of others who generally agreed. I half expected some flack, but perhaps those who really can’t stand her have worn themselves out from attacking her elsewhere.

Thank you for the kind mention…

  2. One thing you need to know about Mary Ellen is that she really doesn’t care what people think. She’s a great lady with a great wit and strong opinions. We used to work together and I was beginning to miss our daily banter…now I can get my fix on PR Girlz.
