August 11th: This week’s top 5
It’s Friday again already. Where do the weeks go? Maybe I’m spending too much time reading blogs? Here are this week’s faves:
1. I think Ian Douglas, tech journo at The Telegraph wrote a wonderful blog post describing a day of journalism done the old fashioned way. Due to unforeseen circumstances his technology was limited to paper and pen. And he liked it.
2. Seth Godin describes the UK terrorist plot foiled yesterday as the tipping point in business travel. We’ll I’m in no hurry fly for business. I never loved it, but given the new restrictions it does seem like flying the “friendly” skies will be even more tedious.
3. Lots of blogosphere energy this week was devoted to the enhanced photographs distributed by Reuters. I thought Scott reflected one perspective pretty well. BagnewNotes has a lively discussion of the issue among the photographer community.
4. Stuart Bruce slaps the wrists of the e-society project for using negative stereotypes in the photographs they use to illustrate their findings. Quite right too!
5. The Bad Pitch Blog reviews media pitching fundamentals in a Web 2.0 world. Bottom line: do your research.
And what, dear Strivers, have you all been reading?
