Shame on you Dotster

Web Host Dotster Seeks Spokesmodels  I read this headline and was filled with the kind of morbid curiosity you get when passing a bad crash on the motorway.  I knew I shouldn’t look, that what I would see might upset me. But I just couldn’t help myself.

And guess what?  I was right.  A Washington-state based web host company is “launching a nationwide search for the Dotster Dots”.

Blecch.  In effect, this company wants to recruit four dolly birds to work tradeshows for them. How 1975. But instead of just ringing up a local modelling agency and hiring some pros, they are going to string it out over a year while beautiful young things vie for the “positions”.

I wonder who the judge is?  Ken Harden, Dotster VP of corporate marketing, you should be ashamed of yourself.

  1. They’ll get girls vying for the positions. Seems Americans are addicted to that potential for 15 minutes of fame.

  2. What’s really sad is the large number of girls that will be lining up for this. Rita is right, Americans wanr their 15 minutes and then some.

  3. Rita and Linda I agree with you about this. But competing to hang out at trade shows? Puhlease! That’s not 15 minutes of fame, it’s drudgery.

And I know I’m making an assumption here, but I’ll bet their costumes aren’t exactly Victorian. Standing around a conference centre in heels and bikini with hundreds of geeks gawping at you can’t be much of prize. And I ‘ll bet old Ken Harden is no Simon Cowell. The whole concept is YUCK!
