US gambling restrictions a boon to Isle of Man
There have been miles of column inches around the world devoted to the recent US crackdown on Internet gambling and the BetonSports scandal. But here on the Isle of Man the feeling is that it will have a positive effect on our e-gaming sector.
The Isle of Man’s e-gaming ambassador, Bill Mummery says that because we have strong regulations, a good reputation and attractive tax packages, e-gaming in the Isle of Man is set to go from strength to strength.
Another big plus is the robust IT infrastructure here on the Island. Web host company Netcetera (a Strive client), is opening a new £10 million data centre to meet the demand from e-gaming and other e-businesses. The company says that despite the trend in the US, here, it’s business as usual.
In a recent interview with Coinslot magazine, Paul Nicholson, Netcetera’s offshore sales manager said, (Sorry no link) “As important a market as the US represents, there is still the rest of the world, and e-gaming companies have been working hard to build business outside of North America…”
So it seems that the Isle of Man is ideally positioned to accommodate this growing industry. Just another reason why it’s great doing business here!
