Big opps in Texas
Even from way the other side of the Atlantic I can spot an excellent opportunity for some lucky public relations consultant in Texas.
Steve Musil at C/net wrote today about how Radio Shack pink slipped 400 employees in Fort Worth by email. Nice job Radio Shack!
This follows the story that Kami reported a couple of weeks ago about Northwest Airlines firing a thousand people then giving them some information on how live below the bread line. Very considerate.
So it seems to me that there is ample opportunity for someone to hang out an “internal communications consultant for hire” single in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
I’d pitch it myself if I didn’t hate commuting.

I read this in my newspaper with my morning cup of tea just a few minutes ago. I live in Texas, but am not sure I would want to work – as a consultant OR employee – for a company that lays off people via e-mail? You?
Well Kami, at least you’d prove your value pretty quickly. Just suggest calling a meeting.
My friend lives right around the corner from the Radio Shack office in Fort Worth. She says it’s a really nice building. I’ll bet they even have a conference room!
Radical idea huh?
Not so much, a good one in many ways though. Send your friend, he or she would probably have better common sense than that shown by the senior management in that beautiful building.
