Cynical IT Guy: a good read

Just yesterday I was saying to an associate, “…a little scepticism is usually a good thing in a journalist.” We were discussing how some reporters fail to exhibit the cynicism that usually comes with the profession.

Then just this morning, I found Cynical IT Guy, Business 2.0′s IT guy on the way tech really works. It’s the result of Editor Josh Quittner’s new policy, that all Business 2.0′s journalists should be blogging. Not only is this blog an excellent example of how mainstream media and social media are joining up, it’s also an excellent read. Jack Dee

An anonymous blog, its author claims 11 years experience working in IT and seems to really, really enjoy a good rant. He’s funny. He’s seems to be usually right on the money. And, after two months of blogging he already has a loyal following.

In one recent post he felt quite “challenged” by Apple’s customer support; so he let it rip on the new iTV, a product he claims is actually 11 years old. A lively discussion, including around 30 comments, ensued. Tres funny!

Next, I’d love to see Jack Dee start blogging.

  1. I showed up to work today, and had no intention of ever blogging again. In fact, I haven’t blogged all week.

Yesterday, a group of the reporters here asked me why I hadn’t blogged lately, and I instantly replied:

“because people are too fucking stupid to understand me and it’s not worth my time”

They all started laughing, except me because I was dead serious. Then, they saw that I was serious and stopped laughing, and that made me laugh. That’s how cynical I am.

Now that I know that someone intelligent gets it, I feel that cynical fire lit again. Just like when that assholes at apple left me on hold for hours. You know they did it on purpose. Not enough money to hire unskilled telephone zombies at apple? I think not. They are just herding sheep.

So, I’m inspired again. And as a thank you for “getting it”, I will contact you shortly and send you an original Apple Interactive Television Box. I actually have 2 of them. I am incredibly fascinated by your business “Strive” and am researching you all thoroughly. It is rare to connect with people that are conscious, but I think that is honestly what it is all about. I’m reading an interview you gave to newsman now. I am stunned by how much we think alike. Especially your comment about nice guys finishing first. Just dead on. Thanks again.

    Sincerely,
    Cynical IT Guy

  2. I wrote you a screenplay. I hope you enjoy it.

  3. 1) remove the s in assholes

    2) add an n in newsman

    3) I wrote you a mini screenplay. Enjoy.

  4. Thanks for all your kind words Cynical IT Guy. Keep on blogging!

  5. Wow, someone gets you? You must feel so special. That’s like getting a gold star and everything. Maybe someone will put an apple on your desk to make you feel really good. Way to go!

    *yawn*

You know, it just occured to me. Since you are so cynical and think you’re SO much more advanced in IQ then the rest of us, why don’t you put all this blogging that very few are reading anyway and write a book instead. Blogging are lost to the ages. Books are forever. Get with the program.

P.S. I’m male and I’ve been in the IT industry a lot longer then you rookie. LOL
