December 15th: this week’s top 5

There’s been some interested stuff going on in the blogosphere this week: controversy, scandal and the usual mutterings. Here’s five posts I enjoyed.Five

1. Organ Grinder gives an overview of at the meltdown at TechCrunch UK. It’s pretty amusing stuff when you consider how much blogosphere attention has been spent on these events.

2. Tom Peters has a fascinating discussion about the practice of badmouthing your competition. After more than fifty comments, it seems consensus is that it’s good to love thine enemy. I tend to agree. I spotted a competitor in the audience at a talk I gave a few weeks ago. He seemed to be noting down everything I said. I felt flattered by the attention.

3. Leo Bottary is fast becoming one of my favourite PR bloggers. This week he gave us an excellent roadmap for credentials presentations. This is required reading for everyone involved in business development.

4. Tony Bradley has some positive feedback on last month’s PRSA annual conference and plugs the CIPR’s consultation on social media along with Euroblog 2007, a research project that is now underway.

5. Eran Livneh has posted 13 Marketing Budget Wastes and I’d say it’s pretty much spot on. He also offers guidance on how to avoid these problems. Thanks to Owen flagging this one up.

Hat tip: Peter Verstage..thanks for the lunch invite!

  1. I love making your top 5! (By the way, it’s capabilities, not credentials – if agencies think of the meeting more broadly, it can help keep them out of trouble.) Thanks and see you on a daily basis again beginning after the first of the year! Happy Holidays!

  2. OK, we call them creds on this side of the pond, though. Have a great break Leo.

  3. Got it. My bad!
