January 5th: this week’s top 5
This popular feature returns after a bit of a break. We’re starting 2007 off with a strong line up.
1. Tony Bradley signs off as CIPR President with a post that summarises the milestones the organisation has achieved under his stewardship. He says, “So, it’s been a year in which social media has played an important role and has demanded a lot of time and effort… But it’s also been a year where some…long-standing issues continued to rumble around…every corner.”
2. The Uber Review ran an item on the top 15 best Google logos of all time. I’ve always thought that these cool iterations of the logo are an excellent example of how to reflect organisational culture with branding, and a bit of fun.
3. Martin Stabe discusses the pros and cons of ‘database journalism’, which he thinks is underused in the UK compared to the US. A thoughtful discussion.
4. I just found Dan Santow’s blog where he discusses the technical aspects of the craft of writing. I love it.
5. Stephen Davies has a look at the long-tail effect of Internet media in his post on relevant, recycled online news. Nobody wraps a fish with yesterday’s blogpost!

Hah! I was trying to figure how to get the ‘wrapping fish and chips’ reference in there when I was writing the post. I couldn’t though.
Glad I could help out Stephen!
