January 12th: this week’s top 5

There was tons of great reading in the PR blogosphere this week, but I managed to hone down my faves to just five. Number Five

1. Angie Jeffrey asks does volume matter when it comes to media coverage? The answer? Yes. She links to an interesting white paper on the IPR site too.

2. Shane Richmond tips Plastic Logic as the saviour of the newspaper publishing industry. He says this flexible, lightweight e-paper beats all hand held devices when it comes to emulating the newspaper reading experience. It looks cool.

3. Over at Media Guerrilla, Mike Manuel asks, Is PR really about driving sales? His conclusion…yes. I have to agree with him. Building positive relationships is all about improving sales, whether you selling products, services or ideas.

4. The trade show season is upon us and Alan Weinkarntz reminds us of the realities of booking media appointments at trade shows. Good advice.

5. Gartner is predicting the hype surrounding Second Life is nearing its peak. Analyst Steven Prentice says, “We will see a level of disillusionment, caused partially by difficult of scaling the infrastructure to cope with new people, partially by a sense of dissatisfaction as the perceived level of reality falls behind that which is becoming the norm in the home entertainment environment.” C’est la vie…

And what, dear Strivers, have you all been reading?
