Having transferred from the voluntary sector to business a year or two ago I am still utterly appalled to hear the drivel businessmen/women put up with at "Business Breakfasts/lunches etc. I went to a business lunch in Yorkshire last year which had a speaker who had started his career in football, then switched to managing sports stadia and ended up with the job of overseeing the development of the UK's new Wembely stadium. He quit not long into the post becasue of the woeful mismanagement of the project... I was looking forward to an insight into a major governmental/private sector develoment. What I got was a degrading routine of one-line gags and "apologies to the ladies" for the occasional blue language. A total, total waste of my precious life! Rant over! I really hate that.
