January 26th: This week’s top 5
Here’s my round up of must-reads for this week in which Art Buchwald’s DIY obit, bad PR pitches, a new blog by a young author, venture capital and the value of blogs are all discussed.
1. The world’s favourite columnist proclaims, “I’m Art Buchwald, and I just died.” Always an innovator, now AB stars in his own obituary. It’s touching, a bit sad, but, as always, funny.
2. Two great posts on the Bad Pitch Blog this week to mark its first birthday. What, Me Blog? wraps up the highlights of a year in blogging and The Pitches Still Suck announces a contest to crown the baddest pitch of 2006.
3. Alexander Caine Duncan, author of fantasy novel Fynoderee, launched his new blog this week. It will track the progress of the new novel, based in the Isle of Man, and of the development of the sequel. (Notwithstanding the fact that Fynoderee is a Strive Public Relations client, I found the book to be an excellent read!)
4. How much is my blog worth? Well Strive Notes is worth just short of US$17k, apparently. How much is your blog worth?
5. How not to spend it. WSJ Start Up Journal looks at what today’s tech companies do with venture capital. Cash is queen these days.
And what, dear Strivers, did you enjoy this week?
