Friday five: February 23rd

FiveOne of the great things about blogging is that your can stretch deadlines! Better late than never, here are my top five posts for last week.
1. The Bad Pitch Blog warns against pay-for-play opportunities. I’ve run into several of these operations myself recently. If you resort to this…you’ve failed your client.

2. The Press Gazette’s Martin Stabbe summarises recent media consumption stats. He says that traditional media is losing ground to the Internet among the under 25s. Surprisingly, only seven per cent of those of us in the 35-44 age bracket choose the Internet as our chief medium for news.

3. Amanda Chapel, aka Strumpette, has a right rant! He/she despairs about the quality and integrity of those in the PR profession and when you consider the examples put forth, he/she has a point. But there are tons of excellent PR practitioners out there too.

4. Alex Duncan, author of the Fynoderee blog, has big news…his Isle of Man fantasy novel is now available across the UK in Waterstones, the high street book retailer. Congrats Alex!

5. Richard Bailey has a cautionary tale for corporates who ignore social media and the blogosphere. Some building contractors were caught larking around a job site on video which was posted on YouTube…the result… the loss of a multi million pound contract.

And what, dear Strivers have you been reading?
