Friday’s five: March 2nd
Just because it’s our birthday doesn’t mean we took the day off. Friday is Top 5 day and here they are…
1. Mike Driehorst might be just dreaming when he looks into the PR crystal ball. He sees nothing but competent professional practitionners in our future. But he doesn’t say if he see’s how we are going to get there.
2. Kami Huyse did an excellent job of summarising the potential risks of corporate blogs. The comments are pretty interesting too.
3. The Telegraph’s Richard Fletcher covers M&S’s Stuart Rose’s gaffe earlier this week. He made a remark about about acquiring competitor Sainsbury’s at a trade conference and has been paying the price ever since. The headline is priceless. More media training required!
4. Steven Blinn of BlinnPR you should be ashamed of yourself. And your client should sack you. Do us all a favour and get a job selling used cars.
5. Steve Rubel does an excellent analysis of how social media is transforming the travel industry. He explains how the power shifted first from from the travel agents to the intermediaries and now finally to the individual consumer. He’s right, of course. And his post includes an excellent summary of the cool Web 2.0 tools people use to plan and record vacations. A must read.
And that’s my week’s summed up. What were you reading?

Well, happy birthday to you! Thanks for the kudos.
Definitely belated Happy Birthday, Sherrilynne. How we’re going to get there? Not sure, but I’m sure it’ll be a painful process. But, worthwhile.
Take care,
Mike
Thanks for stopping by Kami and Mike. And keep up the great blogging.
