Ignoring social media is folly
MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, SecondLife, Flickr. Everyone’s talking about them, but they are largely the domain of hormonally-challenged teens and socially-awkward geeks and have little bearing on the business world, right? Wrong!
Spare a thought for a UK company, Bailey, which calls itself “one of the UK’s leading providers of building services”, whose YouTube disaster ending up costing them a multi-million dollar contract and long-term customer. An interesting piece, but I’d have to take issue with your views on Dell. The executives who were willing to carry out illegal spying activities sealed their own fate. Sooner or later anybody willing to go to such lengths would trip themselves up!
I think you may be getting your wires crossed. It was HP that was spying on everyone. The Dell issue had to do with customer service.
