Facebook is an invasion of privacy. It advertises your personal information to those you would try to keep it from. It is funded by corporates and monitored by everyone else. Why do you want those you barely know to see what you are doing? You want your kid's pictures on show? Go on Facebook. Who know's who'll see 'em.
Its for voyeurs and losers. Get out in the world, folks.

Mike H

why is it so unfathomable that people really did enjoy high school?

and that they really are friends with everyone on their list? ( i mean e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e)

and that they are not doing it for an ego trip? (cos if they were then they would accept every strange friend request that they do not know)

and that basically they are doing it for themselves?...

I know that I love having a medium that is more group-friendly than a phone, and more conveniet than IM where I can really catch up with everyone that I love.

the answer "i personally only have 7 friends and i think its impossible fo people to maintain true friendships with any more than that" is not relevant because that only applies to you and your case. what about me and my case? get it?

im just saying.
why judge if you're not 100% sure you are right?

just because that's your case... does not make it universal.

Facebook is totally sad. People have lots of "friends" who aren't really friends. It's an ego trip for most people.

I don't particularly want people from my past contacting or seeing my profile. High School seemed like a place for people to be the "coolest". What a bunch of losers! The modern world is still a place of having a complete ego trip with important job titles, "fashion" (brainwashing), materialism "aren't I important because of what I own". When will people return to being human again rather than processed / brainwashed pap?

What a load of w@nk.

Facebook is cool! Yet, all the new applications are now spoiling it. They're mostly just annoying, unuseful, unconvenient... Just a wall and the poke thing are enough to my mind!

Here in Canada, Facebook has taken on multiple identities. My network of friends includes people from high school (oh so long ago), people from work, professional acquaintances - and so far it's proven interesting if not valuable.

That said, I don't dare "friend" my daughter, just like I wouldn't dare try to read her diary.

It seems there are three or four generations trying to learn new social mannerisms and networks at the same time, and this can obviously lead to discomfort or conflict.

Then again, Canadians seem to be addicted to Facebook.

Hate to disagree, but I do. I like facebook, it puts me in touch. I can collaborate...I can touch people, including my kids, friends and family. Just because a US pub pooh poohs it doesn't change my mind. Who are they anyway, the folks who voted for Bush, or hired Jeff Gannon No one will admit it now...but someone in the US voted Bush in..twice. And Jeff Gannon a most celebrated fake. My opinion - Facebook is fun, it communicates, it share pictures and events. Cut yourself off at your peril. Michelle Stalatta tried to use it to befriend her daughter? Give me a break? Has she considered talking?
