BlackBerry takes stress out of vacations

BlackBerryAbout eight weeks ago, I finally succumbed to temptation and joined the ‘cult of BlackBerry’.

I had been dragging my feet about getting on board, having seen people I know become blackberry addicts — constantly checking emails and immediately responding to every missive, whether they were sitting at the dinner table or had yet to even get out of bed in the morning.

But still, I was curious and decided to take the plunge — especially after a prominent Isle of Man businessman told me that getting a BlackBerry had transformed his life. A very compelling recommendation, I thought.

  1. I disagree. I tried a Blackberry when MT first added them to the range, and never really got on with it. I hated the constant push email alerts (including lots of spam and stuff you’d just scan in a proper email client)and ended up turning it off. But I agree with General Ludd about these things – my real requirement for a moby is the phone (and text) and ability to sync with Outlook. So I’m back to my XDA2…

  2. I run my email from our email server, through gmail to my BlackBerry. It cuts the spam quite efficiently.

  3. Blackberry – just like a normal phone but with half the functionality and push email. give me Windows Mobile any day… at least people write proper third-party apps for it.

  4. I have one and whilst I find it a very valuable tool there are a lot of things I don’t like about them.

I have heard them being called ‘Crack berries’ as people are constantly on them sending and receiving emails.

The new Windows mobiles have much more functionality.

    Horses for courses I guess.

  5. Thanks for your comments Nick and Jay. I understand your concerns and you are probably both correct. But Blackberry suits my needs, and The Pearl looks good too!
