March 27th: Jo’s PR Top 5

No rants from me this week am afraid. With two, four day weeks in a row and the sun finally shining, what is that to rant about!?

elfwood.com1. So why do journalists hate PRs again? Because ‘PR eats into quality journalism’. Doesn’t stop them from using the material so can it really be that bad?
2. I liked this post, the bit about the difference in experience around the brainstorm made me laugh, as it’s very true! So why should companies consider outside help instead of in house PR? On their own, they need a push in the right direction, that’s why, and according to this it’s financially beneficial.

3. I came across Five Ways Social Networking is Changing PR, on Elif’s World, which is one of the UK PR student blog sites I listed on my blog last week. I said I’d be keeping an eye on them and I have been. This post originally came from Kami Huyse back in September 2007 but having been to a web 2.0 seminar this week I too thought it was fitting to bring it back.

4. PR V Journalism: The Movie. Talking over the major issues betweeen PR and journalism. It’s tongue in cheek but still very funny.

5. Make sure you do your homework before reaching out to bloggers, a good lesson to learn I think!

  2. It’s nice to revisit things from time to time. Enjoy the sunshine.

  3. Thank you very much for keeping an eye on our blogs. We are learning from professionals (such as you) and learn things from them, than try to express our own ideas in our blogs.
