April 2nd: Jo’s PR Top 5
I had been struck down by the dreaded lurgy earlier in the week, but I am fighting fit again now and have picked out some funny blog posts in the spirit of April Fools!
1. The Isle of Man’s April fools prank! ‘We’ll build the longest bridge in the world’ produced by the Liverpool Echo. Living on the Isle of Man is such a pain when trying to get of the Island. It is so much hassle and very expensive even when booking in advance, let alone last minute. So when I read this I couldn’t help but laugh. Although with some off Island trips coming up, I also kind of wish it were true!
2. I thought this post was fun, 10 things no one ever tells you about working in PR. a nice, tongue in cheek post to keep with the fun theme. I love number eight because any time I try and explain what I do, all I see is blank faces too.
3.I was looking on the bad pitch blog and these two posts together made me giggle. The first was one was a post called ‘Typos Are A Big, Hairy Problem’ and the second was called ‘Things Are Tough All Over’ and was about the site angryjournalist.com The comments left by ‘angry journalist’ I found especially funny!
4. Parents magazine have been apparently trying to get them selves some free PR. They have published an open letter criticising Jennifer Lopez and her dangerously decorated nursery! Just what every new mother wants, public criticism of her mothering skills a matter of weeks after giving birth to twins! It was a photo shoot for a magazine, to celebrate the birth of her children. It’s meant to look glamorous! As TMZ rightly states, she is also seen feeding her baby wearing a ball gown, but it doesn’t mean she actually does this on daily business, does it? – Give her a break!
5.Two young American PR pros tell the world how it’s done. This one isn’t a post that I found funny like the others. I put it in simply because I recognised that a lot of the points on it were ones I had heard and tried to practice myself. Plus I enjoyed reading it.

I’m glad you enjoyed reading my post about the PR pros. Lauren and Nikki both shared information about the PR world very openly. Even if you’ve heard some of the tips before, its still nice to be reminded.
Likewise glad you enjoyed the ‘to things…’ post. If you do manage to hit on a form of words which succeeds in describing PR to the uninitiated, do let me know. It’d be a major service to us all!
