ThirdThursday Isle of Man

We had a small but vocal group turn up for the Isle of Man social media club’s Thirdthursday meet up. I expected numbers to be low, what with it being the holiday season and everyone running around.  But eight bloggers made it and we had a great discussion about new trends for social media in 2009.  Steve said location-based services for social networks, Owen said Digsby-like tools would be the next big thing.  I think, for me anyway, the next big thing in social media is companies and organisations in the Isle of Man will start ‘to get it’.

A real highlight  of the lunch was Steve letting usThirdThursday IoM Dec have a gander at his new Android phone.  Ohhhh errrr!  Very nice.

On hand were  (left front to rear) Steve, Charlie, Nathan and Charlotte.  (right front to rear) Paul, Sherrilynne (eyes closed as usual), Owen and Gary.  Thanks to everyone who has come out to one or another of ThirdThursday events this year.  I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.  Next ThirdThursday is 15 January 2009.

  1. Good to see you all, I’ve blogged the G1 Android phone here: http://sba.co.im/index.php/mutterings/41-mutterings/78-the-google-phone

  2. Sorry I couldn’t be there! Looking forward to the next one!

  3. What I meant by Digsby was it’s widget in particular, that is in essence an example of the proliferation of on-website interactivity tools.

One cool example is Cloudshout, check out: http://cloudshout.com/
