21 Dec: PR top 5

I’ve been trialling a new feedreader this week, and while I can’t say too much about it yet because it’s pre-beta, one thing is for certain, I certainly have been getting a gander at a broader range of Internet content as a result. This is reflected in this week’s top 5.
1. Charles Arthur has done a good analyis of the of The Guardian’s Top 100 Websites. Interestingly, there are only ten sites that are carried over from the 2006 list.
2. Stuart Bruce’s top ten ways not to choose a social media consultant pretty much hits the nail on the head. In a related post Beth Harte and Geoff Livingston highlight 25 ways to tell if your social media consultant is a carpetbagger.
3. Over at inmedia, Francis explains why software companies should boost their PR efforts during hard times.
4. Some people say the future of PR is search. I think it’s an important part of PR today and will become increasingly important. Here’s Chris Copeland’s excellent explanation of how and why social communications platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn play a role in search, and therefore reputation.
5. Anyone tired of seeing Simon Cowell manipulate the British tradition of the chart topping Christmas No.1 should read Nick Burcher’s post about social media’s role in pushing Jeff Buckley to the fore.
