Are social networks going mainstream?

The current tough economic times combined with an increased awareness of Web 2.0, or interactive web applications such as social networks and blogs, is driving take up of social computing among marketers, according to an insight paper just published by Forrester Research.
Last year there was an increase in the adoption of all social computing technologies, and now brands are moving beyond the experimentation stage and are employing new strategies focused on delivering real business impact for 2009.

Hi SL, I enjoyed your column this week. I agree we are not at the tipping point, yet! Businesses will need to take the plunge sooner or later, or they will be left behind in the ever changing world…
I keep hearing people say if a client asks for it we’ll look at it. Clients need to be educated about new opportunities!
The Manx Graduates website is an interesting case for internal communication, as this concept could be taken into corporate environments with a Social flavour and still be secure!
