There is life after death. Press Gazette has been brought back to life. Last week this excellent publication folded and went into administration after a few last minute attempts to revive it. This week it’s been bought by specialist information group Wilmington.

Yesterday was a sad day for all of us who work in the UK media industry. After 41 years the Press Gazette has stopped publishing. There had been hope that an industry consortium would buy this excellent trade magazine from the administrator, but the deal fell through earlier this week.

The Press Gazette is reporting that Johnston Press, publishers of the Isle of Man Examiner and its sister publications, is planning on rolling out a multi-media news room model originally developed at the Lancashire Evening Post.

The BBC is planning a bunch of new Web 2.0 innovations to be rolled out next year. There will be more personalisation features for BBC News Online, additional live statistics trackers and maybe even wiki style pages that would let users contribute to compilations of information. Cool!

Following in the footsteps of the Financial Times, The Telegraph has announced that it plans to morph from being a newspaper into a 24-hours news organisation providing information across a wide range of platform.

The Press Gazette is reporting that News International has revealed the line up of senior journalists for its new evening freesheet. It launches on 18 September and will have a editorial staff of 70. It aims to reach 400,000 readers between 4.30 and 7.30 p.m. daily. Add these names to your contact lists now.
