ITV: user-generated content

The trend towards the use of user-generated content by the mainstream media continues to grow. The Press Gazette is reporting that ITV is preparing to screen the first end-of-year review programme to focus entirely on user-generated content.UGC

I Was There: the People’s Review 2006, is an hour-long special and will feature material gathered from mobile phones, camcorders and other personal devices. Contact Cheetah Television, part of the Endemol UK group in London, if you think you’ve got something they can use.

We live in interesting PR times. There is no doubt that citizen journalism is on the rise. It’s fascinating watching how this trend is transforming the practice of public relations.  Control and manage strategies are going out the window, while engagement and immersion action plans take their place. What an exciting time for our profession.
