2007’s Top Ten
Blogging had it’s challenges for me in 2007. I’d come to really enjoy it by the beginning of the year having started the previous March. But, I found it difficult to keep up at times. Last year our Isle of Man operations grew significantly, from one person to a team of five, and we moved out of my home office into business premises. Everything took on a whole new pace, but while posting became less frequent, especially over the summer months, I never fully abandoned Strive Notes. Now that Jo and Deana are both contributing regularly, the blog is running smoothly once again.
There are lots more changes in store for our agency in the next couple of months and I have a few surprises for the blog up my sleeve. In the meantime, I thought it might be fun to take another look at the most popular posts of 2007.
10. September 25 - Web 2.0 at the CMI. This short post drew a lot of traffic, just as did the event itself. I’m not sure if people were interested to find out about the event or were just curious about the inane nattering in the comments.
9. August 10 - Capitalisation of the Internet. Is it internet or Internet. Lots of commenters shared their views.
8. September 14 - Reputation Management @ JCoC. This post was a promo for a talk I gave to the Junior Chamber of Commerce. There was a lot more traffic to the blog than there was to the event itself!
7. May 24 - Does this job have a McFuture? The fast food restaurant’s campaign to get the OED to change its definition of the ‘McJob’ generated an interesting discussion.
6. October 10 - Crowd sourcing in music This Tech Talk summary drew a lot of comments and links from people outside the PR world. Cool.
5. April 24 - In the wake of the killings This is a summary of a Tech Talk column that was spurred by the massacre at Virginia Tech and how people reached out to one other using social media. Writing the story made me sad. Reading it now still makes me sad.
4. May 8 - Engage 2.0. A summary of my review of the book Ecommerce 2.0, the evolution of ecommerce which was published by Imano and released at Internet World. Sometimes people are just suckers for jargon.
3. July 2 - July is here and so am I. This was my plea for understanding and an apology to readers about not posting often enough. It must have struck a cord with many to have made it to No. 3 for 2007.
2. July 6 - Coming clean. Here I explained Strive PR’s migration from being a purely virtual agency to one based on a mixed model. Based on our success in 2007, it was the right decision.
And finally, the single most popular Strive Note for all of 2007:
1. June 8 - Friday’s Fave Five. This list of my weekly fave blog posts received the most traffic thanks to Guardian technology editor Charles Arthur who was kind enough to link to us, and to leave a comment as well.
Well, that’s it for 2007. I’m sure this next year will be fantastic too! Happy New Year everyone!
