Dec 7th: Jo’s PR top 5

FiveAs some of you may have noticed, there was no blog post from me last week. However, I am pleased to say the sneezing and coughing has stopped and the pile of tissues that was my desk for most of last week has cleared. I am back to work, back to health and back to the blog….

1. I thought this was a very good and quite a funny post in defence of the social media release. So I ask you all, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury, is the Social Media Release just a Meatball Sundae? I don’t think so…

2. I came across these a few days ago and having heard the buzz on the Facebook Beacon I gave it a read. I had heard the story of the guy whose proposal plans were dashed when Facebook published the purchase of the ring to his feed. Unfortunately, I very much doubt I have a marriage proposal coming my way, I do however buy a lot online especially at this time of year, and so the last thing I want is my Christmas shopping list appearing on my Facebook for the world to see…

3. Is it ok to say no? Public, private, community, individual is a post I came across on the PR conversations blog. Unknown people adding you to their ‘friends’ list, we don’t know them so why do we feel guilty? I know I don’t…

4. Which is better: paid or unpaid reviews? Well I’ve read Mike’s arguments and I have to say I agree. If there is a fee involved then financially yes, you will gain from what your doing but I think credibility is definitely being lost in the process.

5. Busting the 10 Most Common Social Media Myths Ignite Media posted this list of the 10 most common social media myths, with “social media is free” in the top spot and rightly so. It may be free to sign up, but like it says, it’s in other areas that the cost begin to pile up.
